As a Houston Fitness Expert, every year I take time in January to set 5-7 goals for the year. I am usually pretty specific and try to even have a timeline to follow. Inevitably however, I sometimes get distracted or lose steam. A trick I learned a while back though has helped me accomplish almost all the goals I set every year.

The trick you ask?

Set short-term goals as often as possible.

Deciding you are going to lose 50lbs is a big goal and will take time. Deciding that this week you are going to lose 3lbs and committing to making it happen is how you get to the 50lbs. Then the next week you commit to losing 2lbs, and so on and so forth.

As a Houston Fitness Expert, I was recently trying to think of my own goals around health and fitness to communicate to my coach. I was thinking of these big, long-term things that I couldn’t quite wrap my head around. Then I started to think of shorter-term goals and things started to click.

This past Sunday I was doing some goal setting and regrouping and put together a 30 day template for 5 things I want to start committing to doing every day. My template was a pretty generic excel file but I found a template I have put below for you to try.

Decide on 1 to 2 habits you want to start incorporating to help you get to your goal. Commit to doing it every day or every other day or whatever works best for you. Just focus on doing that for the next 30 days and you really will be amazed at how much closer you will be to your long-term goals and you will have developed a new habit along the way.

Onward and upward!

Making 2017 our best year yet!
